Yes, all of our lids are leak-proof. The one exception: if the straw is in the sippy lid and the cup tips on its side, some liquid can escape through the straw.

Any smooth, non-porous surface: sealed wood, laminate, stone, glass, most high-chair trays and silicone placemats sitting on a smooth surface.

It won't grip well on textured, grooved or cracked surfaces (think tile grout or a rustic farm table).

Wipe the suction base clean (lint and crumbs break the seal), add a few drops of water, then press down firmly from the center out. This works wonders.

Still slipping? Check that the surface isn't scratched, textured or porous.

Cups and bowls: microwave, dishwasher, freezer and oven safe (up to 350°F).

Spoons and teether + tether: dishwasher safe (top rack recommended).

Use your dishwasher's steam and heated-dry settings, and leave space between dishes so the detergent can reach everything. Any leftover spots wipe away with a damp cloth or a quick rinse in white vinegar and hot water.

Scented or phosphate-free detergents can leave silicone holding onto smells. It isn't harmful, and it's easy to fix:

• Add white vinegar or a non-toxic rinse aid to your wash cycle, or
• Bake the pieces on a cookie sheet at 350°F for 1 hour.

Mild stains: soak for 30 minutes in hot water with a few drops of grease-cutting dish soap, then scrub with a non-abrasive sponge.

Tough stains: bake at 350°F for 10 minutes, rinse with cold water, then rub in a baking soda paste until the stain lifts. Wash with dish soap and rinse. Voilà!
